The Mid-Life Power Reset

The Mid-Life Power Reset is an energizing talk that reframes menopause as a turning point, not a breakdown. Annie cuts through the confusion and myths surrounding menopause and explains what’s actually happening in women’s bodies at midlife. With a practical, science-backed approach, she shows women how to protect their energy, sharpen their focus, and feel strong and confident again at work and at home. This talk leaves women informed, empowered, and ready to take ownership of their health so midlife becomes a launchpad, not a limitation.

Join us we officially kick-off the 2026 Businesswoman of the Year Awards!

The BYAs celebrates the stories of Ottawa businesswomen. The finalists and recipients of these prestigious awards demonstrate expertise, business acumen, and notable accomplishments, and are role models for present and future businesswomen.

At the Finalist Reveal & Revel on June 10^th, we will announce the finalists in each category and celebrate the accomplishments of all the nominees and finalists. Be among the first to find out the names of the incredible finalists and enjoy an evening of celebration and networking.

Food will be served and a cash bar will be available.

Street parking is available in Little Italy, and there is a parking lot at Carling & Champagne (855 Carling Avenue, approx. 10-minute walk).

All attendees will receive a discount code for the BYA Gala in lieu of the previously offered combination ticket.

This year we want to connect with and get to know other members in small groups.

We also want to learn about your businesses, and how WBN can help support your growth.

We meet at Chances R at College Square once a month, on a Friday. And it’s not early: it’s from 10am to 11:30am.

If you’re worried about not knowing other members...then that’s the perfect reason to join us.

These coffee breaks will have a loose structure and topics to get things rolling. This event is free but does require registration; the only cost to you will be your own breakfast.

Communicating with Impact in High-Stakes Environments

Jennifer Stewart, Founder and CEO of Syntax Strategic and The Honest Talk, will deliver a compelling session on communicating with impact in high-stakes environments, built on the moments when pressure mounts, scrutiny intensifies, and every word carries weight. Drawing on her experience advising leaders and organizations through risk, disruption, and intense public attention, she will examine what distinguishes reactive messaging from strategic communication. Jennifer will share how to maintain clarity when timelines compress, how to build and protect credibility when trust is fragile, and how to ensure your message lands with precision in a world distracted by noise.

The conversation will provide practical frameworks to strengthen decision-making, navigate competing interests, and communicate with authority when it matters most. Participants will walk away better equipped to shape the narrative, align internal and external messaging, and demonstrate calm, confident leadership, even in the most demanding circumstances.

Guest Speaker - Jennifer Stewart

Jennifer is an accomplished leader in Canadian business, government, and public affairs. She is renowned as an expert in this field, often being called upon by national media for commentary. Additionally, Jennifer has twice been named one of the “Top 25 People in the Capital” by Ottawa Life Magazine, one of Ottawa’s “Top Forty Under Forty” by the Ottawa Business Journal and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, and was a finalist for Ottawa’s “Established Female Entrepreneur of the Year.”

Jennifer has actively taken on many business and community affairs roles, including President & CEO of the Canadian Energy Marketers Association (CEMA), Chair of the Board of the Canadian Transportation Alliance, Co-Host and Co-Founder of The Honest Talk podcast, Chair of the Village of Carp Business Improvement Association (City of Ottawa), Board Member of the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa Foundation, Member of the Board of Trustees for The Women in Technology Scholarship of Willis College, and Member of the Leadership Council of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

Heather brings deep expertise in strategy, organizational and change management, governance, program development, information technology, and privacy. A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), she specializes in aligning strategy and systems through a risk management lens, with a particular focus on operational reviews, IT strategy, privacy, and AI readiness.

She is the author of the upcoming book, Reset the System: A Practical Guide to Rethinking the Way You Work - to Power Why You Do It.
