How To Get Paid To Exit Your Business
You’ve put your heart and soul into growing your business and making it profitable. You’ve faced both opportunity and challenge, and risen to both.
At some point you will leave your business and move on to the next stage of your life. How do you get paid for the business you’ve created? This is often key to your financial independence as it may be the largest asset you own. Given that over 70% of businesses that are put on the market do not sell, exiting well takes some thought. Yet, research shows that more than half of business owners have not planned for this process at all.
In this crucial breakfast for business owners, Nancy Graham will share principles and pitfalls of selling your business. She will share how she prepared her business for sale and sold it. Nancy wants to see every business owner get paid to leave, enjoying the rewards of their business’s last payout.
Guest Speaker - Nancy Graham
Nancy Graham started a business as a risk advisor, and financial planner in a young, independent wealth management firm, PWL Capital, in 2000. In 2007 she walked away from this practice. She pivoted to the wealth management side of PWL. This was less than a year before the world stock markets were hit by the ‘financial crisis’ and declined in value almost 50% over the next few years. She stayed the course, she succeeded, and then she sold. She will tell you she made decisions that did not work out and others that did, and learned to live with both. Setting the business up to sell turned out to be the best decision of all.
